BIOGRAPHY

Tulsa native Sam Briggs has been singing and acting his way across the great plains of Oklahoma for over a decade! Praised for his “versatile” (The Root) and “nuanced” (Tulsa World) stage performances and “with a voice like butter” (Independent Review Crew), Sam’s 2026 summer season includes house and role debuts in Wichita Grand Opera’s 1776 as Richard Henry Lee and Painted Sky Opera’s La traviata as Giuseppe, where he will also cover the role of Gastone. The summer also marks returns to the Will Rogers Stage Foundation in South Pacific as Lt. Joe Cable, the Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma in Sweeney Todd, and Tulsa Opera in Menotti’s The Telephone as Ben.

Sam’s jam-packed 25-26 season included the devilish dual roles of Professor Lightning and Mr. Burke in the Freeland Center’s world premiere musical Kannon Gets the Wiggles, role covers for Barry Mann and the Righteous Brothers in Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma's Beautiful: The Carole King Musical, an acclaimed turn as Tateh in the Tulsa Performing Arts Center's production of Ragtime, and role debuts as Enoch Snow in Carousel with the Will Rogers Stage Foundation and Captain Georg Von Trapp in Tulsa Opera’s sellout production of The Sound of Music opposite Broadway's Jenn Gambatese and beloved opera diva Leona Mitchell. Sam concluded his season appearing as a guest vocalist with the Signature Symphony for Tulsa Sings!
Sam’s regional stage credits include George Seraut in Sunday in the Park with George, Anthony in Sweeney Todd, Jervis Pendleton in Daddy Long Legs, Harold Hill in The Music Man, Curly in Oklahoma!, and Marius in Les Misérables. A frequent mainstage artist at Tulsa Opera, Sam sang the roles of Jack in Into the Woods (2023), Robert in I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change! (2024), and Lillas Pastia in La tragédie de Carmen (2025). He has appeared on stage with Discoveryland! USA, the Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, the Tulsa Performing Arts Center, Tulsa Project Theatre, Reduxion Theatre Company OKC, the American Theatre Company, Theatre Pops, the OKC Philharmonic, and the Signature Symphony. He has had the good fortune of working with the incredible talents of Wes Studi, Jenn Gamabatese, Kelli O’Hara, Tony Walton, Leona Mitchell, and Faith Prince.

A frequent cabaret artist, Sam wrote, directed, and starred in A Knight of Musical Theatre for the Lynn Riggs Theatre's inaugural season in 2019. He also wrote, directed, and starred alongside long-time collaborator Alexandra Johnson in It Takes Two for Tulsa's Studio 308. His latest cabaret venture was a co-creation opposite his dear friend Thomas-Farnan Williams in Two Tenors Too Many To-Night! which went on to receive a PRISM award for outstanding cabaret performance from the Lynn Riggs Theatre. Sam frequently makes guest appearances in the Rainbow Room, a local cabaret series hosted by Oklahomans for Equality.

An award-winning singer and actor, Sam took first prize in Signature Symphony’s Tulsa Sings! in 2019, received the coveted Tulsa Award for Theatre Excellence (TATE) for Outstanding Actor for his work as Count Orsini-Rosenberg in Theatre Tulsa’s Amadeus, and was a semifinalist in Opera Mississippi’s 2024 John Alexander National Vocal Competition. 
A big believer in preserving and presenting the “small” musical, Sam’s work as a producer led to the Oklahoma premieres of Daddy Long Legs (2019) and Team Starkid’s The Trail to Oregon (2022), the latter of which was remounted in collaboration with Theatre Tulsa in 2023. Additional acclaimed productions include [title of show] (2025), Falsettos (2023) in collaboration with Tulsa Repertory Musicals, and Ruthless! The Musical (2023) in collaboration with Overture Musical Theatre Training.
